Breasfeeding In Public Isn't Easy For Everyone

Breastfeeding In Public
"I make milk. What's your super power?"

TO BREAST FEED IN PUBLIC, OR TO NOT BREAST FEED IN PUBLIC...

There shouldn't be a question. It should just be. Either it's something you do or it's something you don't. There is no right or wrong either way. Without shame, or guilt, or peer pressure, you decide what's right for you and baby.

Pros
Convenience. You take baby with you everywhere and when baby is ready to eat, you can just make that happen.

The more people see it as a norm the more normal it'll be.

Cons
There isn't always a comfortable place to nurse. Sometimes it's in the middle of an aisle at Target. Luckily more places are acknowledging the need for comfortable places to pump and nurse in public, like Amtrak stations.

With keeping the ladies under wraps our whole lives, having our breasts out in public isn't easy for everyone and babies won't always nurse under a cover. If you're not relaxed and at ease your let down won't, let down, letting you down and making it difficult for baby to nurse thus stressing you both out.

HAPPY MEDIUM

I want to commend the mommas who nurse in public and paved the way to make it easier and continue to make it easier for the rest of us. I tried really hard to be one of these mommas. I wanted to represent. Help make nursing in public the new normal. But I grew up super modest and baby would not nurse under a cover. Unless I was in a mommas group, I just couldn't get situated.

If you're like me, and nursing in public is not easy or just not working period, then pump and bottle feeding and/or find places that have comfy nursing areas. Nurse in the comfort of your own home, in momma groups, and very close family. In the early months keep close to places you are comfortable in and as your feeling more comfortable branch out. Ease into it and find your happy medium.

You are super momma for breastfeeding. Where you nurse doesn't change that.
